Film soumis au RTV International Film Festival 2026Synopsis
A poetic reflection on our relationship with time, nostalgia, and the present moment. Through everyday images and the contrast between human and canine perception, Never Was Ours explores our tendency to wait for the future instead of simply living what is already here.
À propos du film
Humans are constantly looking ahead — waiting for what comes next, imagining what could be, and holding on to what has already passed. Dogs, however, seem to inhabit a different relationship with time: one moment at a time. Through simple images of everyday life, Never Was Ours observes this contrast between human anticipation and canine presence. The film moves through ordinary moments that, while seemingly insignificant, become meaningful precisely because they cannot be kept. Rather than offering an answer, the film invites us to reconsider our relationship with the present. Perhaps the moments we long to preserve were never meant to belong to us forever. Perhaps their temporary nature is what makes them worth experiencing. Never Was Ours is a short poetic essay about time, nostalgia, impermanence, and the quiet realization that sometimes, being present is enough.
