À propos du film

Mari Carmen, a 70-year-old woman, travels by bicycle. She arrives at a meadow from where the mountain she is heading towards can be clearly seen. She stops, recites a poem, gets some fresh air and dances, celebrating her freedom. Afterwards, she settles down, fries a chorizo sausage and eats it. The next day, while on her way, she stops to say hello to a horse. Then, she goes to drink some water and realises that she has run out. She decides to continue to a village to look for a fountain. When she arrives, after filling her bottle, she comes across a poster with her face on it. Someone is looking for her. Mari Carmen tears down the poster and quickly runs away. That night, she rests in front of a reservoir and recites a poem in which she expresses her discomfort with the darkness that follows her and the fact that she has run out of chorizo sausages. The next day, she goes down to a village to get more chorizo sausages and comes across several more posters. She hurries to take them down when a woman catches her by surprise and scolds her for what she is doing. Mari Carmen runs away with a poster in her hand, leaving most of the sausages scattered on the ground. That night, while having dinner, she looks at the poster with concern. The next day, she sees some teenagers sitting down and playing on their phones. She approaches them and asks if they can lend her a phone to call the number on the poster. The teenagers agree, and Mari Carmen speaks to her daughter, Miren, asking her to leave her alone and stop putting up posters. Miren scolds her and asks her to come home, at least for her granddaughter Lur’s birthday. The teenagers are astonished by the scene, and Mari Carmen walks away without hanging up the phone. Mari Carmen continues on her way and stops at a spot from where the mountain can once again be seen. She recites a poem, complaining about her daughter and how she will not leave her alone. Afterwards, she heads to a reservoir, where she sits lost in thought while throwing stones into the water. At that moment, a car approaches her. Miren and the two teenagers get out. Miren approaches Mari Carmen, who runs away, but Miren manages to catch her and makes her leave with her. Finally, Mari Carmen agrees to get into the car, leaving her bicycle behind. Her granddaughter Lur’s birthday arrives. Mari Carmen is talking to her when Miren sits down beside them with the cake, and everyone starts singing. During the song, Mari Carmen silently watches Miren, Lur and the rest of her family. Little by little, her expression changes, and she seems to accept that, for now, this is where she belongs.
