À propos du film
Kamogawa Equidistance: War of Boundaries is an AI-assisted participatory narrative film set in Kyoto. Sixteen contributors created original characters, which were brought together within a shared fictional world connected to real locations across the city. The project began as a 24-episode narrative and expanded into images, digital mapping, music, and a 4 minute 59 second audiovisual work. Generative AI was used for dialogue exploration, scene development, visual experimentation, and music generation, while the final structure was shaped through continuous human selection, rejection, rewriting, sequencing, and editing. The story moves between ordinary urban space and an imagined world of yokai, folklore, and shifting boundaries. Rather than treating AI as an autonomous author, the work uses it as one participant in a broader network of human contributors, fictional characters, cultural memory, and real geography. The film asks whether different beings, identities, and realities can coexist without being reduced to sameness, and whether AI can function not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a medium for generating new relationships between people, stories, and places.
