À propos du film
Alwasiyya tells the story of Pepe, who after the death of her husband Ricardo undertakes an inner journey to reconcile with the absence, rediscover his identity and open himself to new ways of being in the world. Through her gaze, the viewer travels through landscapes of love, memory and resilience, but also enters into urgent debates of our time: the climate crisis, the fight against oppression towards women and trans people, the 20th anniversary of equal marriage in Spain and the need for care for the elderly of the LGBTIQ+ community. The spirit of the film reveals the vulnerability of those who face unknown waters, the calm of a suspended moment and the connection between human beings and nature as a space of refuge and transformation. The title of the documentary, Alwasiyya (from Hispanic Arabic, “executor”), reflects the role that Pepe has assumed not only in the emotional management of the loss, but also in the preservation and dissemination of Ricardo's artistic legacy, especially his pictorial work. But this story goes far beyond the personal.
