In a sprawling futuristic city, teenage scavenger Alex discovers an abandoned classified military prototype and secretly brings it back to life. What begins as curiosity grows into an unexpected friendship as Alex repairs the machine and gives him a new identity: Proto. When the military returns to reclaim him, their bond is suddenly put at risk. At its heart, Alex & Proto is a story about an unexpected friendship, how a chance encounter can turn someone you were never meant to meet into someone you are not willing to lose.
Réalisation
Mark Vilther is an AI filmmaker, Senior Art Director and multidisciplinary creative with over a decade of experience in advertising, design and visual storytelling. Through his creative label, VLTHR LAB, he explores new approaches to filmmaking by combining creative direction, emerging technologies and a range of visual disciplines. His work focuses on using AI as part of a directed production process while keeping story, character and emotion at the center. Alex & Proto is his first narrative short film, bringing together his background in art direction, visual development and hands-on AI production to build an original science-fiction world from scratch.
