During the final afternoon before they part forever, Lucía and Mara try to say goodbye without destroying what is still alive between them.
About the film
WHAT WE LET GO is an intimate story about learning how to stop loving in order to love better. Lucía and Mara spend their final afternoon together in an apartment still inhabited by the remnants of a shared life: books left untidily on shelves, clothes folded with obsessive precision, and a small withered plant that becomes a reflection of what they are both trying to save. Through fragile silences, restrained gestures, and a conversation that avoids erupting for fear of causing any more pain, the two women confront a painful truth: sometimes love stops holding us up and begins to suffocate us. Rather than portraying the end of a relationship through resentment, the short film offers a sensitive perspective on a conscious farewell, on the emotional courage it takes to let go, and on how love can transform without disappearing.
