Among threads, canvases, and needles, they weave more than fabrics—they weave life itself. Guardians of memory, these women refuse to forget and refuse to allow the different forms of power to deny what happened.
About the film
The armed conflict tore the social fabric apart, but these women understood that one way to mend it was by coming together. Weaving a Tree is a story of women—fragments stitched together by dignity, a tree woven by many hands. A tree can break through the coldness of concrete and make the cracks bloom. Weaving a Tree is a story of women, pieces united by dignity, where camaraderie, togetherness, and solidarity become the most powerful tools to heal the fabric shattered by the armed conflict. With every stitch, they weave memories, mend pain, and breathe hope into life. Among threads, canvases, and needles, they weave more than textiles—they weave life itself. Guardians of memory, these women refuse to forget, and refuse to let the different forms of power erase what happened. This documentary is a tribute to women and to all victims and survivors of the armed conflict, to their transformative, quiet, and powerful legacy. This tree reminds us that even amid pain and silence, hope and dignity can still bloom.
