SES 2 is a psychological short film exploring self-doubt, fear, and the silent battles we fight within ourselves. It examines the idea that sometimes our greatest obstacle is not an external force, but the voice inside our own minds — and that perhaps the first step toward overcoming it is not to run away, but to face it.
About the film
In the silence of a familiar room, a young man confronts a part of himself he has been desperately trying to escape. A voice that refuses to leave him alone repeatedly challenges him, exposing his failures, fears, and persistent self-doubt. With every passing moment, the voice grows more intense, forcing him to revisit the memory of a day he never speaks about — June 25th. More than just a date, it represents a memory he desperately wants to leave behind. But escaping the truth is never easy, especially when the voice questioning him belongs not to a stranger, but to himself. He tries to silence the voice, avoid its questions, and break free from the conflict within him. Yet each attempt brings him closer to a painful realization: the truth he is running from may be the very thing he carries within himself. As the confrontation unfolds, the line between self-doubt and self-deception begins to blur. An ordinary room becomes the battleground for an internal struggle, where there is no external enemy to defeat and no easy escape. Eventually, the young man faces a question he may no longer be able to avoid: can anyone truly run away from themselves? Abdul Rehman is an emerging independent filmmaker from Karachi, Pakistan, with a passion for exploring human emotions, psychological conflicts, and the complexities of the human experience. As a writer, director, and producer, he is drawn to stories that examine the struggles people face within themselves. His filmmaking approach focuses on visual storytelling, emotional authenticity, and the power of simple settings to convey deeper ideas. SES 2 is one of his latest independent short films.
