About the film
Larga (inglés): Lisa is a 6-year-old girl with a tendency to hide in the public bathrooms at her school. There, she paints what, for her, is her world, turning the stall into a mural. Worried about Lisa, her mother insists she come out and stop hiding, and Lisa lies, saying she does it because girls at school force her to. Her mother, however, suspects that Lisa does it because she wants to. From that day on, Lisa understands that her own world does not exist, and that it is wrong to have a corner that belongs only to her. 6 years later, Lisa is in a public bathroom at primary school. This time she hides in one of the stalls because she is trying to conceal one of her first periods. Nerea, a classmate, helps her. Nerea herself is hiding because she is bullied. They connect, but when the two girls who bully Nerea find them, Nerea, in a desperate act, points out Lisa’s period stain to divert attention. Humiliated, Lisa hides once more in the stall. Outside, two girls laugh at her, and inside she has nothing. The stall is no longer her own world. She has lost it. Another 6 years later, Lisa is now 18 and in a club. She is in a public bathroom, drugged and in bad shape. Clara, a stranger her age, decides to help when Lisa starts vomiting. The two of them, alone in the stall, talk about feeling out of place, lost. On the wall of the stall they make a drawing, and Lisa feels safe once again, even if just for a moment. Lisa is now 24. She wants to be an actress, and she is in a restaurant bathroom with other girls who are also auditioning for the same play. But the girls don’t know that Lisa is in the bathroom at that moment, and they speak badly of her, saying she doesn’t deserve the lead role. When Lisa comes out, one of them clarifies her opinion, saying that it seems Lisa doesn’t enjoy herself when she acts, and that one must be at peace with oneself in order to play others. At 30, Lisa is about to perform the lead role in a play before a massive audience. Before going on stage, she doesn’t feel well, and tells her mother this isn’t what she wanted. Her mother reminds her that she has always been able to find herself and create her own world. She tells her she never lost it, that she carries it inside. Lisa locks herself in a stall during a panic attack, and it is then, after a lifetime of searching, that she sees on the walls those drawings she made as a child, that world she thought she had lost. Finally, Lisa leaves the bathroom.
