About the film
BETWEEN 2010 AND 2011, a series of murders targeting travestis occurred in the city of Patos, in the hinterlands of Paraíba, Brazil. The investigations identified a well-known military police officer from the region as the perpetrator. A decisive breakthrough came when a victim survived by pretending to be dead. Sobre Corpos is a short documentary film that portrays the crimes, the investigation, and the trial of a case that should have made national headlines—but remained confined to local media simply because the victims were travestis. This is a complex and gripping story that lays bare the banality of violence driven by transphobic hatred.
