Synopsis

A composer’s rehearsal is derailed by a visit from a false muse. A fight between perfectionism and humanity is shown through choreography.

About the film

A perfectionist composer falls under the spell of a false muse, which in his mind kicks off a battle between the ideal and the human. As soon as the false muse nears gaining full control over the protagonist, however, he realises that the striving towards unattainable perfection has been a mistake in itself. So, he “malfunctions” by intentionally breaking up the harmony, changes direction towards the avant-garde, and overcomes his fear of imperfection. In the end, the protagonist realizes that art’s true beauty is only achieved through vulnerability.

Director(s)

I was born in Lipetsk on March 4, 1997, where I also spent my childhood. I didn't like school, but college, even though it was a technical one, was much more fun. As a student, my friend and I tried shooting our first films, and gradually I became interested in videography. After moving to St. Petersburg, I started working professionally in this field. I made a short film "To Hear", which became a participant in several film festivals. Now I work in different creative directions: I've shot several works for the band "Makulatura", and I also collaborate extensively with theaters as a video artist and director. I enjoy artistic cinematography because creativity, in a sense, is my way of learning to live.
