A poetic tribute to the people of Friuli and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, on the 50th anniversary of the 1976 earthquake. Created with the collaboration of the Municipality and inhabitants of Cavasso Nuovo.
About the film
An impossible dialogue between the intimate memories of those who witnessed the Friuli earthquake on May 6, 1976, and the voice of the Orcolat—the legend that, in local tradition, shakes the very roots of the mountains. Steering clear of a didactic narrative, the short film focuses on the community of Cavasso Nuovo, unfolding across seven evocative “rooms” through soundscapes, visual fragments, and direct gazes into the camera. It is a poetic exploration of a people who managed to trap fear within a “cage of pride” and a story of how the new generations breathe atop a scar that is felt not as an end, but as the backbone of an entire region.
