Synopsis

While running errands through the streets of a Madrid working class borough, María describes to her ill mother a neighborhood that no longer exists. Through their conversation, she tries to protect the memory of a place slowly disappearing.

About the film

María spends the day walking through Carabanchel (a Madrid working class borough) while running errands for her mother, Carmen, who has been ill and confined at home for a long time. As she moves through the neighborhood, we hear fragments of their conversation: Carmen asks about the streets, the cafés and the familiar faces she can no longer visit. María reassures her that everything remains just as it used to be. But behind her words, reality reveals a neighborhood transformed by franchises, closed-down local businesses and new developments. An intimate portrait about memory, care and the quiet disappearance of working-class communities.
