About the film
Inspired by the occult documentary atmosphere of Häxan and the decaying worlds of Gormenghast and Viriconium,, Ash Under Tongue: Forbidden Footage of the Bone Reclamation Rite presents recovered archival footage of ancient humanoid travelers performing a ceremony whose purpose has outlived its explanation. Amid the remnants of a once-advanced civilization, they gather to reclaim the bones of the dead, preserving gestures and procedures inherited from a world they can no longer comprehend. Scarred images and solemn intertitles bear witness to an act both sacred and profane.
