In a future Chiloé, industrialised and in decline, Ana lives with her mother Carmen on a remote archipelago of small islands; she faces a decision between what she loves and what she wants.

Chiloé, the near future. The archipelago is no longer what it was: industrial plants line the shore, the sea carries what they leave behind, and each year the land gives back less. On a small, remote island, Ana lives with her mother Carmen, holding together a peasant economy that is failing harvest by harvest. Ana decides to leave for a while. It is not a break but a repair: she will enter the industry and come back, as generations of Chilotes have gone out to work and returned. This migration, though, does not behave like the ones before it. The plant does not only ask for her hours; it asks for a way of being in the world. The shift, the procedure, the unbroken noise, the technical language of production begin to displace what Ana knew of the land, of ritual, of the speech of her own house. The change is interior before it is visible. Ana starts losing the edge between what happens and what she believes is happening. And when that edge gives way, the first thing to blur is Carmen: her mother stops being someone she can return to and becomes a place she no longer knows how to reach.
